 DESCRIPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Beginning Computers  (Deigned for ELL)  - In this course you will learn the vocabulary and beginning computer skills needed to take higher-level computer classes. You will build keyboarding skills, work with hardware, software, storage devises, files, folders, create simple documents,  work with ribbons, manage your computer files, identify different kinds of files by their file name, use email, the internet, and build reading skills needed to understand the computer textbook. Pre-requisite:ESL Intermediate Low & up,  and type 10 wpm. TEXTBOOK: You MUST purchase your textbook online before the first day of class. CLICK HERE FOR TEXTBOOK INFORMATION

Beginning Internet & Email (Designed For ELL) - Students will learn the vocabulary and computer skills to use internet search engines such as YAHOO! & Google, and how to use the address bar. Students will learn how to send, receive, and forward letters and pictures using YAHOO email.   Pre-requisite: ESL Intermediate Low & up, and type 10 wpm. CLICK HERE FOR TEXTBOOK INFORMATION


Beginning MS Word (Designed For ELL)   - Once a student is able perform the basic computer skills covered in Beginning Computers, learning  the basics of Microsoft Word is the next step. This includes learning how to open and close documents, edit documents, move and copy text, make text bold and colorful, and much more. CLICK HERE FOR TEXTBOOK INFORMATION.

MS/ Word 2010   - This MS Word class is designed for people looking for beginning to intermediate MS Word skills to improve their skills for work.  You will to create basic letters, business correspondences, and reports. You will learn to use many of the powerful features in MS Word. Pre-requisite: Familiarity with Windows 7 and the ability to read at 6th grade level. This class will assign homework to be completed outside of class time. If you do not have access the MS Word 2010, you must also sign up for Lab Time in the afternoon or evening. MS PowerPoint 2010   - PowerPoint is a fun and powerful software used to create presentations. In this course you will create, design and deliver a presentation. You will work with animations, graphics, sounds, and slide transitions. Pre-requisite: Successful completion of MS Word 2010 or 2007 and the ability to read at 6th grade level. This class will assign homework to be completed outside of class time. If you do not have access the MS PowerPoint 2010, you must also sign up for Lab Time in the afternoon or evening. MS Excel 2010 - Excel is one of the skills employers desire most. In this course you will create worksheets and workbooks that display data in tables and charts, and that make calculations using formulas and functions. Pre-requisite: Successful completion of MS Word 2010 or 2007 and the ability to read and do math at 6th grade level. This class will assign homework to be completed outside of class time. MS Publisher 2010   - MS Publisher is an easy-to-use, flexible program for creating newsletters, brochures, business cards, postcards, flyers, among others for print, email, and the web. You will learn to create a publication from scratch and to use the template designs available in Publisher.
