Accounting and Quickbooks 2012 - Days, Evenings, Online

Dear Customers and Students,

 

Regretfully, I want to inform you of our recent decision to discontinue our instructor-led Accounting, Quickbooks, and Vocational ESL/English for Employment classes starting the Fall 2012 term. We will remain committed to providing computer training to our students and community, and will explore ways to offer short, targeted computer workshops for local employers; topics such as Pivot Tables, V-Look up, Mastering Mail Merge, and more.

These changes allow us to add much needed monies back into the school-wide budget, as well as give the CTE program a focus area in which we can excel. We will continue our partnerships with Boston Reed, Ed2Go, and may offer community education classes that work well with our career training program in the future.

EVENINGS: Fundamentals of Accounting & Quickbooks

Fundamentals of Accounting is NOT offered in the evening, but may be taken online.  Quickbooks, however will be will be offered in a traditional classroom setting.  You MUST successfully complete the Fundamentals of Accounting class(es) prior to enrolling in Quickbooks.

  1. ONLINE STUDENTS: Complete BOTH sections of our online course: Accounting Fundamentals (Date:  9/19 - 11/19) and Accounting Fundamentals II (Date:10/17 - 12/17).
  2. NEXT: Enroll in our instructor-led Quickbooks class:  - DISCONTINUED

DESCRIPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The Accounting Fundamentals course will cover 16 chapters of accounting in 7 weeks. Due to the fast pace of the class all students must:

  • Pass a basic skills test at 7th grade or higher in reading and math and have basic computer skills
  • Order your textbooks online and bring them with you on the first day of class (click here for textbook information)
  • Be able to complete assigned homework outside of class

Course Description: This fast-paced course covers 16 chapters of accounting fundamentals in 7 weeks. You will work with accounting concepts, revenues and expenses for sole proprietorship and merchandising businesses. Pre-requisite: Must have 7th grade reading and math skills. The QuickBooks 2012 course will cover 112 chapters in 8 weeks.

Course Description: AFTER you have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Accounting course, you will apply accounting concepts in computerized accounting using Quickbooks. This course will cover 12 chapters in 8 weeks. Pre-requisite:  Successful completion of Fundamentals of Accounting. Access to a computer with Quickbooks 2012  to complete the required homework.  For this, you may either enroll in LAB TIME or you may purchase Quickbooks 2012 trial version along with your textbook, and study from home. YOU WILL HAVE HOMEWORK REQUIRING ACCESS TO QUICKBOOKS for this class.

You may take the ONLINE ED2GO classes and use our campus computers for the online fee + $25 lab fee. Additional rules apply for certificate students.

  • For NEW Students -  You must attend our orientation and take the appropriate placement test(s) before enrolling.
